AIRPORT ACCESS Because we can't allow vehicles to cross the runway, we've changed the access to Kemble Airport. To reach the Airport and/or the AV8 Restaurant & Bistro, you need to take the signposted turning off the A433 Cirencester-Tetbury road. | WHEN ARE THE CANBERRAS FLYING? The most frequent question from enthusiasts! When are the three ex-RAF Canberra PR.9s, retired in July 2006, going to fly again? We wish we knew! Certainly, the aircraft require a great deal of work to gain a UK CAA Permit to Fly. Less work would be needed to fly them on the US register. At present, Delta Jets, which is looking after them on behalf of their owners, is only tasked with maintaining them, including regular engine runs. No work has begun on getting them flying - several months would be needed. It is worth mentioning that the Canberra kept outside - XH135 - was in a far worse condition on arrival and would need much more work to bring it up to airworthy condition. |

NEW HANGARS Construction work has started on ‘J’ Site, a new hangar development big enough for aircraft up to business jet size. Hangars numbers 1 – 5 will be completed by July 2007 |
| SIGN OUR PETITION
Flying at Kemble is under threat because Cotswold District Council has served enforcement notices for the cessation of general flying. Kemble Airfield Estates Ltd has appealed against the notices to the planning inspectorate. We have also appealed to CDC to enter into further discussion with us to see if we can provide the information they need in order to avoid the huge costs of a Public Inquiry.
Cotswold District Council and North Wiltshire District Council, in response to written questions from us when the airfield was purchased from the Ministry of Defence, confirmed in writing that planning permission was not required. Now they say that it is!
Kemble is a wonderful facility which
contributes greatly to the local economy, to aviation heritage -
and people have fun here.
